==============================================================================================

We held 2 seminars on Saturday 7th August, the first was a Sparring Seminar with Kev Miller and the 2nd a Catch Wrestling Seminar with Ian Bromley from Stockport who is a representative of Billy Wicks and Johnny Huskey.

Both were well attended and both Instructor's gave a great class.

============================================================================================

On Sunday 1st August it was time for the Annual Revolution Multi Style Martial Arts Seminar held as always at ACMAC. We were lucky enough to host John Goldson (BJJ), Chris Jones (Action Films), Colin Beddow (Krabi Kabong), Rick Burns (Sport Sword), Steven Smith (Defendo), Ian Harrison (Kick Boxing) plus myself (SDF) and Mrs P (TKD).

We had almost 60 students take part from all over the UK, it was a great day and everyone learnt alot and made new friends.

=================================================================================================

On Thursday 22nd July 2010 we held 2 Charity Martial Arts Training Seminars with Master Kim Stones. There was 1 seminar for Children and 1 seminar for Adults.

Myself and Mr Stones both agreed not to charge for this session or take a fee for ourselves instead asking the students to make a donation to Charity.

The charity chosen was the Doncaster Special Baby Care Unit which is one Mr Stones holds dear to his heart.

It was the first time Mr Stones had taught a Martial Arts lesson in over 5 years after retiring as one of the most successful Instructors & Competitors in UK History.

From a personal point of view it was a great honour for me to have at my Centre the man who I trained with from being 7 years old and who employed me as an Instructor at his Schools for 6 years.

We had a great turn out with over 60 students on the mats most of whom were from Andy Crittenden’s Martial Arts Centre but some of whom had travelled from far and wide to train with this legend of UK Martial Arts.

We raised £138.26 for the cause, I would like to thank everyone who supported it especially Master Stones who taught two great sessions.

=============================================================================================

Congratulations to new ACMAC Black Belts.

Beth Jackson 2nd Dan TKD

Daniel Smith 1st Dan MSMA

James Walker 1st Dan MSMA

On Friday 11th June I taught a SDF Seminar at Doncaster Fight Club in Rossington. I have been working with he Instructors there since it re-opened earlier in the year, we have a great working relationship and I am teaching the SDF down there along with ex ACMAC MMA Fighter Greg Letch and I will be grading the students in the SDF System, Also I will be doing Black Belt Gradings in Kick Boxing in August for 2 of the other DFC Instructors Greg Raper & Paul Summerill, both of whom I have graded in the past.

The seminar went down really well and 3 lads got their Red Belts, they were Greg Raper, Jono Ashton & Nick Ashton. Thanks to Tommy Long, Bryn Simpson & Steve Lawley for assisting me. I look forward to a continued relationship with the guys at DFC.

The next day I was once again teaching a SDF Seminar to students of my good friends Craig Long’s York Martial Arts Academy.

The seminar was mainly women and we had a much different approach to the lads in Rosso the night before. These women had many great questions about self defence specific to themselves and it was a really good session. We covered basic self defence, knife defence, rape defence and more.

Craig has a fantastic set up and is a great guy, 1 of the best around, it was an honour to teach at his school.

then to finish off a crazy weekend of seminar ACMAC Students attended the first ever NSWA Sport Sword Seminar in North Shields. We hired a coach and filled it full of keen students who wanted to not only learn more about the NSWA System but also try their hand at competing.

The event was run and organised by the awesome Mr Burns and many clubs from the Revolution Network attended, Rick showed techniques, defence and counters with the sword and then we split off into 3 groups to do some mini competitions. Everyone got a medal and it was a great day. We did a whip round for the Action for Society Charity at the end and we raised over £60.

The day finished off with a nice surprise when I was presented with an award on behalf of the Revolution Network for all the work I had put into it and all the events I have organised. I was very surprised and honoured, I feel lucky you be surrounded by such great Martial Artists like Rick Burns and Colin Beddow who presented me the award.

On Sunday 23rd May we were honoured to have the legendary Royce Gracie teach a seminar at our Centre. Royce Gracie is the most famous Martial Artist in the World and the most sought after Instructor in the world. He constantly travels the globe teach his family’s fighting system Gracie Jiu-Jitsu which he popularised by winning the first ever Ultimate Fighting Championship back in 1993.

I have trained with Royce many times and achieved my Blue Belt from him in 2003 but this was the first time I had the opportunity to host him at ACMAC.

It was the hottest day I can ever remember in the gym. We had 47 Martial Artists from all over the country attend including 11 ACMAC Students Jordan Rowe, Thomas Lee, Paul Doran, Melanie Hartley, Stefan Johnson, Nickie Treen, Elaine Simmonds, Steve Lawley, Bryn Simpson, Guy Kramer and Carl Spilman. Other attendees included Rick and Gary from BSBB, Russ and Laen from NEST, Gaz Beddow and gang from East Meets West, Carl and Natalia from Black Dragons, Martin Folan, Chris Wilson, Martin Dougherty, Richard Lane, Phil Beniston, White Tigers Sam and Liam and John Goldson and 4 of his students from Gracie Barra Sheffield and others.

Royce came in, in his usual laid back way and just went straight into his seminar, he started with a takedown and then showed a series of moves that all linked together.

Everyone enjoyed the seminar and came away smiling, sweating and learning. Royce was his usual laid back self and delivered a really good seminar to mostly first timers in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, he made sure he went round helping people who were struggling along with his assistants Eddie Kone and Tony Bebbington.

At the end of the seminar Royce hung around and signed autographs and posed for pictures, it was a great day, one of the best we have had at ACMAC, we have been very lucky to have some of the top Instructor’s in the world at ACMAC and Royce joins the list of people such as Dave Turton, Michael Bisping, Johnny Huskey, Trevor Roberts, Larry Hartsell, Mick Gould, Stevie Smith, Pat O’Malley and Phil Glover.

Earlier in the day at a Seminar in Barnsley Paul Doran and Tom Lee were awarded their Blue Belts in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu from Royce, well done guys.

We hope to have Royce on seminar in the future and hope to continue to provide World Class seminars at ACMAC for many years to come.

As many of our Children were disappointed to not be matched at the UMA Grappling Championships I decided to run a Kids Grappling Competition just for our members so on Sunday 23rd May that’s what we did.

17 Kids took part, 16 on the day and then Dylan Sayles did his on the Wednesday as he couldn’t make the Sunday and had paid and was looking forward to getting a medal, we did him a couple of competitive bouts against Kids in his weight division.

Back to the day, all 16 kids were weighed in and it gave us 3 weight categories, the light weight division had 4 kids, middle weight division had 7 and there were 5 heavy weights.

I was absolutely blown away by the standards of the Kids that took part, there guard work was great both on top and on the bottom and there transitioning and positions were excellent.

We fought all the divisions through to the finals and then made sure all the kids who had been eliminated got to have at least 3 fights. The finals were all really exciting especially the heavyweights as it was brother vs sister!

In the end the winners of each category was Shaun Bell (Light), Ross Cerenko (Middle) and Sebastian Walker (Heavy) with Rhys Griffiths winning the award for best Improvement and Attitude.

Everyone who took part was a winner and everyone got a well deserved medal. The others who took part were Tegan Hartley, Nathan Morton, Thomas Andrew, Tia Rowe, Kalvin Alcock, Callum Taylor, Owen Taylor, Jarrod Allsopp, Cieran Ashbridge, Ellie Saxton, Bradley Mason and Charlotte Walker.

I look forward to holding another Comp like this soon.

================================================================================================

Team ACMAC had a fantastic day at Judgement Day on Sunday 11th April. This is one of the UK's premier Tournaments and we didnt expect much from this Event medals wise. However is was pleasantly surprised and extremely proud of how well our Team did.

We took 9 students and brought back 8 medals!

Full Results

2nd Place: Suneil Singh (points & continuous)

=============================================================================================

Congratulations to David Colley on winning the WKC British Title  yesterday. David will now be representing his country at the Wolrd Championships in Portugal.

============================================================================================

Thanks to everyone who supported the Rapid Arnis Seminar especially Pat O'Malley who as always gave a great seminar.

==============================================================================================

Thank you to everyone who supported the Revolution Martial Arts Network North of England Championships. It was a fantastic day, we had a great increase in entries with a total of over 180 competitors from 18 clubs making it our biggest event yet. Also we had an increase in standards and we maintained what has made us successful, professionalism, smooth running, no attitudes, no ego’s, no politics, good atmosphere and all round friendliness.

The day would not have been the same if it wasn’t for the fantastic team work, I am very lucky to be surrounded by some wonderful people. It would be impossible to thank everyone as I wouldn’t want to miss anyone out but im sure if you helped out you know who you are and I want you to know how much I appreciate you and how important you are to the further growth of our Tournaments and the Revolution Network. Thank you to the Area Managers (Mr Burns, Mr Harrison & Mr Beddow), Referee’s, Shadow Referee’s, Corner Judges, Forms Judges, Timekeepers, Scorekeepers (especially our Senior Area Co-ordinator Sarah Melvin) and Lucy’s Team who dealt with the entries, spectators and tuck shop especially Terry who as well as standing guard and making sure nobody snook in he as always was up at ACMAC early to put the mats in his van and transport them to the school. I would like to thank Tacita, Natalie, Dean and Jordan from Team ACMAC for looking after the Team as I was tied up all day.

Considering the numbers and space of the venue the event ran smoothly and didn’t finish much later than we expected, we pride ourselves on giving a 4 hour time window for Kids and Adult Competitors this is what makes us different from a lot of competitions where you can be waiting from 9am till late in the evening,, the only other thing was the parking which I knew nothing about and had no control about, I would suggest anyone who has a problem get in touch with the school and maybe we can have our car park back next time.

Back to the positives and they by far outweighed the negatives. Standards went through the roof with some of our circuits most well known fighters not coming away with a Gold this time, also im looking at the Adult Black Belt Forms Division, all 7 competitors scored 28 out of a possible 30! For example that would be 9.5 from 2 judges and 9 from the another! That’s a high standard at ANY competition.

Another high point was the introduction of the Sport Sword Divisions. These were very popular and will get bigger and bigger with the support of the NSWA.

Remember the winners of each categories have now automatically qualified for the Revolution English Title Fight Night in October.

Here are our Team’s results

12 Gold Medals

Suneil Singh (3), Tiffiny Richardson, Luke Cullen, David Colley, Natalie Loy, Claire Dalton, Sam Burton, Hayden Lindley, Jessica Corish & Holly Winder

8 Silver Medals

Tia Rowe (2), Ebony Richardson, Ellie Saxton, Melanie Hartley, David Kiggin, Dean Mitchell & Jack Malone

8 Bronze Medals

Mrs Parker (2), Ellie Saxton, Bethany Levick, Thomas Lee, Ross Cerenko, Jack Malone & Holly Winder

And well done to: Jordan Rowe, Jon Glarvey, Tommy Long, Stefan Johnson, Lucy Shaw, Kelly Ashbridge, Tegan Hartley, Callum Taylor, Jarrod Allsopp, Shaun Bell, Thomas Andrew, Daniel Smith, Cieran Ashbridge & Russ Colley who isn’t an ACMAC member but is David’s brother so that’s good enough for a mention.

It was great to see so many ACMAC members getting into competitions, so many first timers too.

These results made us the Team with the most medals so another proud day for Team ACMAC.

Next Competition is Judgement day in April, then its the Grapplers turn in Stoke on 1st May.

===============================================================================================

On Friday 5th March we were honoured to have Johnny Huskey grace out mats and deliver an outstanding Seminar in Carny Style Catch as Catch Can Wrestling. We had over 40 Students turn out for the seminar and everyone went home buzzing.

Students from Newcastle, Sunderland, Derby, Nottingham, Leeds, Dewsbury, Eckington, Selby, Thorne and ACMAC Students came to learn from the best in the Business.

Johnny showed us the main techniques that worked on the Carnivals in the aearly 20th Century where his Instructor Billy Wicks earnt his living, then he showed us some chain Wrestling and some other devastating finishes.

As well as his skills as a Catch Wrestler Johnny is also a great teacher and made sure that all the students on the mat understood the techniques before moving on to the next one.

I would like to thank Johnny and Ian Bromley & Jimmy Kelly for assisting him and everyone who attended, we will be having Johnny on Seminar every time he comes over from his base in North Carolina, USA.

Look out for all the exciting seminars we have coming up with the likes of Royce Gracie, Phil Glover, Craig Lawrence and Pat & Lucy O'Malley.

Congratulations to Paul Henseleit on becoming a Masters Level Self Defence Instructor and Assessor with the SDF after a weeks intensive Instruction with myself at ACMAC.

============================================================================

We had ANOTHER excellent day at the competition in Morpeth. Everyone did me and the other Instructors proud but once again it was the Team performance that was the best part of the day.

We only had 13 competitors but we came away with 8 Golds and 3 Silvers. It was the first time we had any students take part in Sports Sword, i think it will be start of something big, myself, Ellie Saxton, Cieran Ashbridge & Suneil Singh entered the Sports Sword categories run by the NSWA and throughly enjoyed it. We didnt look out of place against people who had been doing it years, Suneil even won his division.

Here are the list of Medallists.

Gold

Suneil (3- Sports Sword, Patterns & Points) David Colley (Points), Kev Miller, Natalie Loy & Claire Dalton (All Continuous) Jessica Corish (Patterns)

Silver

Holly Winder (Points) Cieran Ashbridge (Points) David Colley (Adults Points)

Other students who took part and did us proud was Jade Frizzell, Ellie Saxton, Sarah Melvin & Kelly Ashbridge. I entered the Sports Sword as i wanted to lead by example and i hope that next time we can have more of a Team to take to the next NSWA event.

David Colley came away with the Samurai Spirit award for his display of skill in his division but also for how he fought Lee Wilson in the Adults, he showed no fear of this great fighter who is much larger, expreienced and older than him and really pushed Lee to the limits. David is a great kid and im glad he is on Team ACMAC.

Thanks to eveyone who made the journey up north to support the team. Thanks also to Colin & Tony for organising a great Comp.

=============================================================================

The Stevie Smith Boxing Seminar we held was Awesome, great Boxer, Great Instructor and a great person. We look forward to having him again in 2010.

Thank you to all the staff who looked after ACMAC while myself and Lucy was away. I knew it was in great hands and it was, lots of positive feedback from the students. Thanks Team.

Thank you to everyone who supported Grapple Day last week, it was a fantastic event. It's great to see how well the students are doing since re-introducing Grappling training to our School. We also had Dragon Freestyle, Derby Self Defence, White Tiger Kick Boxing & Chris Jones Martial Arts Acdemy members at the event. I have had 100% sucess rate of everyone who attended saying they was very sore after wards.  Unfortunately it will be the last Grapple Day i think but it will be replaced with something alot better, along the same lines.

On 1st October i became only the 2nd person in the Country (after Dave Turton!) to be awarded the level of "Master Assessor" in the Self Defence Federation

Congratulations to everyone from Team ACMAC who took aprt in the Revolution Yorkshire Championships, our Team came away with the most medals, which was great.

2009 has been our best year yet with a great Staff and Students, fantstic family atmosphere and an awesome choice of Martial Arts programs on offer, 2010 looks to be the same as were gonna kick it off in grand style with not 1 but 2 world class seminars in January, firstly with Mark Wiley, renowned Filipino Martial Arts expert and returning to ACMAC after a very succesful seminar last year will be Catch Wrestler Johnny Huskey.
